Warehouse and Transport Lead

Experience

3 - 5 Years 

Education

Degree in Mechnical Engineering/ Supply Chain Management/ Logistics

• Experience in a Manufacturing/ Warehouse environment
• Good planning skills and ability to meet targets and deadlines
• Knowledge of production operations and scheduling procedures
• Awareness with processes – Knowledge of raw materials, production  machines, quality control, costs, and other techniques for effective  manufacturing and distribution of goods
• Ability to interact well with internal and external suppliers and customers
• Good understanding of Stock Control/Inventory Management
• Good administrative skills and knowledge about Customs and regulations in  APACMEA region
• Capacity to work with freight forwarders, logistics and transport firms
• Proficient organizational and interpersonal skills with abiility to motivate, take  initiatives, be independent, flexible, decisive and a team builder
• Effective communication skills with ability to interact on all levels
• Clear understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure/ cost of  poor quality
• Excellent attention to detail skills, proactive with an eye for problem solving  and continuous improvement
• Commercial acumen and understanding of business targets
• Working knowledge of health, safety and security requirements
• Experience in working with a computerized environment MS Office and ERP  system in particular spreadsheets and databases and preferable knowledge of  warehouse management systems

Duties and Responsibilities

• Leading the team of Warehouse employees and improving the performance of everyone in the team in by providing guidance, instructions and motivation
• Oversee the workload of the warehouse personnel and ensuring that goods  are despatched in a timely and well packaged manner as per set KPI’s for OTIF  deliveries
• Training and supervising of new employees, conducting assessment and  appraisal for Warehouse and Logistics team
• Coordinating all activities related to receiving, inspection, storage, cycle  counts, supply and internal movements
• Picking and packing process within the warehouse, with a view to it as timely,  efficient, effective and accurate dates as possible of the warehouse processes  and material flow
• Regular liaison with Downstream Operations, Suppliers, Sales, Customers and  Logistics and Transport companies to monitor and improve outbound and  inbound shipments of all our raw materials and finished goods
• Selection of carriers, negotiate contracts and rates with extensive research on  ideal shipping techniques and routing
• Review impact of logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product  volumes or carriers and recommend optimal transport modes, routes or  frequency
• Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product  transit or delivery
• Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or  exports or customer issues
• Developing warehouse operations system improvements by analyzing process  work flow, manning, space and equipment requirements
• Ensure inventories in area of responsibility are accurate, stock movements are  recorded accurately, support and participate in stock takes at regular intervals
• Lead and manage the transportation team in planning the local sales order deliveries
• Lead Kaizen meetings or Mini Business Units and contribute for improvement  ideas and active promotion of team collaboration activities.
• Maintaining safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures by complying with regulations
• Ensure that all lifting and manoeuvring of products and materials is carried out  in accordance with standard material handling procedures
• Ensure hazardous materials are stored in accordance with regulatory  requirements
• Maintain high standards of security in the warehouse and ensure that storage  racks, vehicles, machinery and equipment is well maintained and fit for usage
• Ensure a clean and tidy working environment to aid operational efficiency
