Objective

The Team Leader Production supervises the progress and performance of daily production activities in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery Reliability, Costs, and Talent Development.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Leads, coordinates planning, and ensures optimal machine occupancy for their area of responsibility.
  • Monitors the adherence to critical department-related KPIs, discussing actions on deviations and bottlenecks with employees and/or other stakeholders.
  • Ensures effective and efficient allocation of available personnel across machines based on weekly/daily planning, consulting with fellow Team Leaders if necessary.
  • Ensures the availability of materials and resources to minimize downtime and production interruptions.
  • Takes timely measures to prevent or correct deviations in the production process (progress, quality).
  • Identifies and escalates recurring production and process problems, proposing solutions.
  • Records production data, specifics/deviations from the original plan using designated systems.
  • Coordinates 1st line maintenance.
  • Coordinates 2nd line maintenance performed by designated and authorized personnel.
  • Ensures clear and effective communication with fellow Team Leaders and other relevant departments regarding progress and/or deviations in the production process.
  • Motivates and encourages employees to optimize their skills and promotes good teamwork within the team.
  • Utilizes the talent within the production team, ensures training for individuals in the team.
  • Maintains the knowledge and skills of team members.
  • Conducts performance reviews and assessments, documenting findings in the designated systems. Reviews are validated and pre-discussed with the Production Manager.
  • Makes recommendations to the Production Manager regarding training, promotion, sanctions, etc., concerning team members.
  • Maintains operational contacts with temporary employment agencies regarding the deployment of temporary workers.
  • Guides (new) employees and temporary workers.
  • Manages and coaches the team meeting (MBU) where Safety, Quality, Delivery Reliability, Costs, and Talent Development are discussed for the last period and future changes are anticipated.
  • Advises on the feasibility and practical consequences of changes in processes, products.
  • Evaluates the content of completed line control forms to ensure accurate and complete production information is recorded.
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations, such as PPE policy and safe working practices.
  • Documents safety incidents and follows up on actions.
  • Conducts safety rounds, engaging in discussions about safety behavior and setting an example.
  • Plays a role in explaining, overseeing, and correcting the enforcement of company, hygiene, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Is visible on the department and works within the production process if necessary.
  • Measures and checks product quality, recording it in the designated system.
  • Independently adjusts the production process if required (quality/efficiency).
  • Performs (minor) repairs on machines.
  • Ensures that user maintenance and cleaning activities are carried out.
  • Ensures optimal handover during shift changes.
  • Participates in all relevant forums for the position.

Authorities

  • Independently decides on the progress of production based on deviations in safety, health, or quality in their shift.
  • Advises and applies sanction policies if the behavior and/or attitude of employees warrant it, towards the Production Manager.
  • Discusses planning, quality, technical functioning of the lines, taking a leading role in making a personnel planning.
  • Allocates their own tasks within established procedures and indicated priorities.
  • Works within the framework of labor legislation, company rules, and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Allocates their own tasks within the set deadline.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness in the workplace and adheres to company-specific and occupational health and safety guidelines.
  • Optimally utilizes people and resources to achieve departmental goals.
  • Identifies departmental bottlenecks and resolves them as soon as possible.
  • Halts certain activities if necessary for safety or health reasons.

Communication

  • Quality, Environment, Safety, and Health (QESH) Department: Exchange information about the quality of the delivered (blocked) production.
  • Technical Department: Exchange information about disruptions and improvements to production lines.
  • Process Engineering: Develop process improvements regarding quality and predictability.
  • Planning Department: Discuss production progress and adjust the production plan with the planning department if necessary.
  • Warehouse Department: Discuss goods flows (quantity and quality) to and from production departments.
  • Human Resources Department: Seek advice on the inflow and outflow of employees.
  • Production Department: Attend working groups and meetings.

Foreign Languages

Proficiency in the English language is required for:

  • Holding discussions with external partners.
  • Communicating with external employees who do not speak Dutch well.
  • Participation and contribution within improvement teams.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum completion of a BOL4 education, preferably in a technical field.
  • Experience in a similar role in a production environment.
  • Experience with 5S/Lean/Kaizen/Six Sigma.
  • Preferably VCA (Safety Checklist for Contractors) certified.
  • Knowledge of and experience with various software packages such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
