Situation

Cordstrap is a market leader with a clear vision and strategy for the future. The company has successfully made the transition from a small customer, product-oriented approach to a solutions (applications)-oriented marketing and sales approach focused on larger customers in key industries where it can add more value. Cordstrap is also getting ready for the next phase in its journey towards protection engineering – a phase where Cordstrap’s brand and value proposition will evolve and expand from cargo securing to protection engineering in which Cordstrap account managers actively work to identify and mitigate risks for customers caused by the movement of goods. This shift will enable new conversations with customers and unlock new sources of value and growth within our existing customer base.

Segment Marketing team is newly created within the organization to drive growth by focusing efforts on high potential industries, innovation and customer insights and by leading collaboration to realize this. Cordstrap has recently made comprehensive industry plans in terms of where to play, how to win and together with sales leadership translated this into the regional growth plan. We have two segment marketing managers who are responsible for the respective segment plans and collaborate with sales managers to work in different regions, and two technical support managers with technical and commercial application know-how. The team is led by the Segment Marketing Team Lead and is in close collaboration with multiple functions within the organization such as innovation, marketing activation, and sales amongst others.


The Role and Responsibilities

Cordstrap is looking for a market intelligence analyst to support our Segment Marketing team in the next phase of growth. You will be responsible for supporting the team with business insights to help set innovation priorities, find untapped market potential, and support the positioning of our value proposition.

You will improve our understanding of the types of products we secure, and their market size based on various sub-segments and locations. Being a data expert, you will be the primary contact for our sales managers for regional trends and inquiries, and you will be able to clarify and improve the market intelligence insights.

You will know everything about competitors’ organization and their product portfolio to help to determine our competitive value proposition and portfolio positioning. You will contribute to building actionable insights and support the team to prioritize innovation and value propositions.

You will play an important role in interaction with sales and segment leaders to connect the individual data points to what it really means. You can think through complex details and be able to make a key conclusion. Your critical thinking and analysis skills will help to position and contribute for Cordstrap’s vision 2026 in leading the global market in Protection Engineering.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Market research: To understand the untapped potential and to generate sales and marketing leads, you analyze market data based on HS codes. By doing this, you will identify trends, opportunities and market sizes. You will use various data sources, including import-export statistics and desktop research to construct meaningful information and conclusions.
  • Competition analysis: To help to set the innovation priorities and to strengthen our value proposition, you create a structure and conduct competition analysis with aligned objectives with segment team leader. You monitor and analyze competitor’s activities to provide actionable insights.
  • Macro-economic market scanning: To be ahead of the industry news and trends, you establish and update macro-economic market trends in a timely fashion through a combination of secondary and primary research. You proactively collate relevant industry news.
  • Proactive stakeholder discussion & collaboration: You are the primary contact point within the organization for market and competition analysis topics. You set the objectives and scope of market intelligence to support the segment strategy and plans. You actively reach out and engage with regional sales teams to understand the needs of market intelligence data and collaborate with segment owners.
  • Reporting and insights: You prepare detailed reports yet clear conclusions on market condition, competition analysis, and actionable insights for stakeholders for the given subjects to help to set the innovation priorities and to improve our value proposition.
  • Continuous Improvement: You review and implement changes to the existing and new work process within and around segment marketing team, to be efficient in our process. This includes the product information management process and data management process.

 

Qualifications

  • Profiles: Strong business sense with conceptual and analytical thinker. You are capable of interpreting complex data and building knowledge in the assigned area with a good understanding of what it is actually about. You would be a self-starter to identify and resolve complex problems independently, and able to simplify complex information into actionable insights. You understand the stakeholders’ perspective and can communicate accordingly.
  • Education: at least HBO or preferably master’s degree in economics, statistics, business, or other technical/business related studies.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in market intelligence, data analysis or related field.
  • Language: proficient in English and other languages are a plus
