The Global Materials Planner reports to the S&OP Director

Duties and responsibilities           

As a Global Materials Planner, you plan, execute and follow up on all purchase orders for strategic raw materials such as yarn, wire and PP. As well as for strategic purchased finished products, such as dunnage bags, buckles and tools.

  • Prepare, issue and follow up on all purchase orders for strategic raw materials and strategic trade items
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and resolve delivery/receiving problems
  • Partner with Procurement to develop short term supply mitigation solutions in response to sudden demand changes
  • Communicate and coordinate tradeoffs and ensure understanding, alignment and adherence to the plans
  • Review and maintain required minimum balances at stocking locations to meet customer service levels. Implement corrective action when imbalances occur
  • Identify and resolve capacity constraints at our suppliers by working with Procurement and Manufacturing
  • Regularly monitor and address inactive, slow moving, and excess inventory
  • Ensure integrity of data necessary to optimize supply chain systems and maintain metrics to measure supply chain performance. This includes data collection, cleanup and management
  • Participate in monthly S&OP meetings
  • Will have monthly meetings with Procurement and suppliers regarding their schedule attainment, backorder, quality and will provide a rolling forecast
  • Participate in process improvement teams designed to enhance global supply chain capability


  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business engineering/economics or related field
  • At least three years’ experience in production or supply chain planning
  • Analytical skills including data evaluation, identification, solution development and implementation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Consulting and challenging skills
  • Strong personality with natural authority and able to connect with people (culture / style) and business
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented, with a positive proactive attitude and a high degree of initiative
  • Being independent and pro-active in solving problems
  • Team player across functions and divisions
  • Fluent English is a must, other languages are a plus
  • Advanced user of Excel, Powerpoint and Access
  • Knowledge and insights of financial (inventory related) aspects (e.g. write-offs, provisions)
  • Willing to travel (10-20%)
